1966 Ford Mustang V8 Auto Coupe PROJECT

This mid-1960s two-door coupe recently made its way here from the States. It still shows off its original Rangoon Red exterior and a matching red interior. Its factory power steering setup helps it handle tight spaces, allowing for easier low-speed maneuvering.

Inside, the seat coverings and carpets have been replaced with new, proper-fit materials. A new dash pad would complete the cabin, which currently features a five-instrument cluster that displays separate readings for fuel, oil pressure, charging, and coolant temperature, alongside a central speedometer.

Outwardly, the paintwork reveals its age and some small patches of surface rust around the driver’s door and the rear of the front fender. The front lower panel bears evidence of a past dent and repair. Overall, though, the brightwork remains serviceable, and the nearly new set of Magnum 500 wheels shod in BF Goodrich tires adds a suitably classic stance.

Under the hood, the V8 engine appears to be in stable running order, showing no signs of fluid leakage. A recent service covered basic ignition components, along with an oil change and a fresh filter. Transmission fluid and power steering fluid required no top-ups and remained at proper levels.

On the road, this vintage coupe starts smoothly, runs evenly, and shifts with no fuss. It brakes as expected, and key electrical systems—headlamps, brake lamps, turn indicators, horn, and wipers—all operate correctly. For a car approaching sixty years old, it still feels impressively coherent.

In essence, this Mustang represents a solid project that can be enjoyed as is while leaving room for incremental improvement. Given its price point and overall mechanical condition, it offers a worthwhile starting point for any enthusiast looking to shape and refine a classic Ford icon.

The car comes fully registered with a UK V5C document.

All sensible offers are considered.
