1966 Ford Mustang V8 Manual PROJECT

This classic coupe hails from the San Jose assembly plant, where it left the factory with both a V8 engine and a manual transmission. Historical data suggests only about two out of every ten units from this period came with a stick shift, which adds rarity to this specific configuration.

Its exterior displays a Rangoon Red finish in impressive shape. The brightwork and emblems look crisp, aided by fresh replacement parts. Below, the chassis appears structurally sound. One front floor pan, on the driver’s side, was replaced, but that seems to be the only major panel substitution. A newly installed exhaust system is present and shows minimal or no use. Additionally, brand-new shock absorbers at all four corners contribute to a stable ride.

Under the hood, the engine bay stays clean and shows no visible fluid leaks. A replacement radiator was fitted, which should help maintain proper cooling. Inside the cabin, the instruments and most switchgear function correctly, although the horn remains inoperative. Seat upholstery and carpeting need attention, so plan for that if you aim to refresh the interior. Exterior lighting works as intended, including turn signals, brake lamps, and upgraded right-hand headlights.

Starting the powerplant is straightforward, and it idles smoothly without strain. The clutch engages properly, allowing the vehicle to pull away with minimal effort. Acceleration feels robust, implying that the motor still delivers ample power when pushed.

Overall, this is a light project suitable for those who appreciate classic Detroit engineering and want to finalize a few remaining details. It presents well in its current condition but offers room for personal touches. Given its foundation, this vintage piece of automotive history could be a rewarding restoration for any enthusiast looking to complete an iconic pony car on their own terms.

The car comes fully registered with a UK V5C document.

All sensible offers are considered.
