1990 Mustang White Fox-body V8 5.0 Auto Convertible PROJECT

1990 Ford Mustang Fox-body 5.0 V8 automatic convertible project, finished in Ford white with a black power-operated soft top.

This Fox-body Mustang came to us as a part-exchange vehicle. It offers a more accessible route into classic Mustang ownership, particularly as earlier 1960s and 1970s models continue to move beyond many enthusiast budgets. As a result, the third-generation Mustang now has growing appeal among grassroots collectors, drivers and restoration-minded buyers.

The car uses Ford’s 5.0-litre fuel-injected V8 engine, paired with an automatic transmission. This setup gives the Mustang usable road manners, straightforward drivability and strong parts support. In addition, the car has power steering, power-assisted brakes, cruise control and working air conditioning. These features make it feel more modern than many older American classics.

The electric convertible roof operates correctly, as shown in the video. The black soft top presents very well, with no noted rips or tears. It also sits cleanly against the white bodywork, giving the car a period-correct Fox Mustang appearance.

The exterior remains in good overall condition for its age. However, there is a small area of surface corrosion on the passenger-side rear wheel arch. A paint refresh would improve the presentation further and suit the project nature of the vehicle. The alloy wheels are also in very good condition, and the tyres are almost new.

Inside, the cabin presents well. The front and rear seats remain in unmarked condition, which is unusual for a convertible of this age. The trim, seating and general interior condition make this a solid basis for continued use, light restoration or improvement work.

Mechanically, the car drives well, with brakes and steering that feel closer to a modern vehicle than an older classic. The V8 engine, automatic gearbox and assisted controls make it a usable American convertible rather than a demanding restoration project.

The only issue we have identified is the passenger-side electric window, which does not currently operate. Otherwise, the car appears to be a sound and usable Fox-body Mustang project.

The vehicle is MOT’d until the end of November. With some attention to the paintwork and the window fault, this 1990 Mustang convertible could become a very presentable and usable classic V8 Ford.

The car comes fully registered with a UK V5C document.

All sensible offers are considered.
