What a year 1966 was. President Lyndon Johnson said on the 12th of Jan, “the USA will stay in Vietnam as long as aggression commands us to battle”. John Lennon said, “we are [the Beatles] now more famous than Jesus”. England won the world cup 4-2 and on 8th sep Star Trek was aired for the first time and we heard those immortal words, “beam me up Scotty”. Petrol was 25p a gallon and the average house cost £3840 and of course Stacey was born.
1966 was a face lift year with the GT dash now standard on all models. Interior trim mods included new door cards and a modified dash pad. The exterior changes were less pronounced with a slated grill to the front and larger quarter panel trims
Stacey has undergone many improvements in our workshop including new floors, new seat bases, new rear chassis rails and trunk floor together with new gas tank. She has also received new front chassis rails, new inner fender and battery tray.
The interior has been repainted and we have replaced carpet ,door cards, dash top and fitted a new Shelby style steering wheel. The exterior has been refinished in Wimbledon white with rangoon red Shelby stripes.
All new bright work including bumpers, mirrors, handles, back and front light units, quarter panel trims and new windshield mouldings finished off with a set off Magnum 500 wheels wearing BFGoodrich tyres.
Underneath, Stacey has new brakes shoes and wheel bearings to the front and new shocks to the rear. A hand finished exhaust has also been fitted to the complete underside has been recoated with rubberised stone guard.
Stacey comes fully serviced with a years MOT and tax and ready to use to relive that great summer of 1966.
