2014 is a landmark year for Ford, for it was on the 17th April 1964 at the Worlds Fair that Ford unveiled to the world the Mustang. Originally Ford forecast sales of 100,00 in the first year of production – that figure was blown away, with the dealers selling 20,000 on the first day. Going on to sell more than 300,000 in the first model year of 1964 .
Over the next 18 months, over 1 million Mustangs were sold. The 1964 car was released mid year and as a result it became known as the “1964 ½”. In 1965 the Mustang became Ford’s biggest selling car since the Model A.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mustang we are offering for sale a limited edition of 20 cars based on 64, 65 and 66 Mustangs. All cars will come with new paint, new chrome, new interior trim, new carpets, 17″ chrome alloys, Shelby style steering wheel, gold cobra stripes and special 50th anniversary
gas cap and badging. Each car will have a signed and numbered brass plaque fixed to the glove box. This is car number 1.
She is a 1966 V8 2V Auto finished in metallic dark green with metallic gold (50th anniversary) cobra stripes and insignia.
Interior
Interior is new finished in white with dark metallic green new dash bezel, new dash top, new carpets, Shelby style steering wheel and refurbished glove box cover.
Exterior
Exterior has new paint, new chrome bumpers back and front, refurbished grill, new door handles and locks, new mirrors, new quarter panel trims, new windshield moulding and new chrome 17″ alloys.
Underside
Both floor pans are new having been replaced in our our shops. She has a new custom exhaust system, new brakes all round (new cylinders, new shoes, new brake drums, new brake lines new master cylinder and new hand brake cables). All new KYB shocks all round. The underside has been refinished in new rubberised stone guard to stop rust.
Under Hood
The v8 motor has been fully serviced with new oil, oil filter, new fuel filter, new air filter, plugs, point and condenser.
Both radiator and heater hoses are new and there is a replacement alloy radiator. The braking system has all new brake fluid. The auto transmission has had all fluids drained, filter replaced and refilled with fresh auto fluid. There is a new battery tray and a new battery.
Overview
In our view this is one nice Pony car with many many new parts, new paint, new trim, new chrome. Runs and drives as a ’66 Mustang should. This will only increase in value over the years.
