Due to much interest in our previous project Mustangs, we are pleased to offer for sale this 1965 barn find from Georgia, USA.
She is a V8 3-speed manual finished in bright red with black interior. The last owner had an issue with the rear brakes not working and she was parked up in the late ’80s in his barn and there she had sat for the last 30 years until our contacts in the USA found her and persuaded the owner now in his 80’s to part with her.
The brakes have now been fixed, we put some fresh petrol in the tank, fitted a new starter motor, new starter solenoid, new battery, new spark plugs, and fuel filter.
We then cranked her over a few times and she started right up. She is now running driving and of course stopping.
The top of the body is in good condition aside from some rust on the A-posts. The doors, front wings and rear quarters look to be fine as does the hood and trunk lid, the door shuts, trunk shuts and hood shuts.
Her lower regions are where the work will be required. She will need both floor sections left and right (we will be supplying these free with the car). She will need both drop off panels (these are the panels either side of the gas tank) as they have rust on there lower edges where they join the rear quarters.
She will need a new front right-hand inner fender (this is where the battery sits and always rusts out) and she will need the front section of the frame rails repairing (this is another common area of rust on early Mustangs) – we can supply these section for £60 per side or you could repair them.
The interior as can be seen would benefit from new seat covers and a new carpet however the rest of the interior looks great even the dash pad is in good condition. We would think this is because she has been out of the strong sunshine down in the Southern states.
She would make a great project and is offered for a very reasonable price.
The car will come with a full UK V5C (log book) and with a UK registration number.
